Our story
A new chapter, brought to Goa
The Astor Goa opened its doors in Candolim in 2023, marking a new chapter in the story of The Astor. Part of Archer Hospitality, the brand’s journey dates back to 1999, with its roots in The Astor Kolkata, a heritage property housed in a building dating to 1905 and restored in 2012.
Bringing this legacy to Goa, The Astor was reimagined as an all-suite boutique hotel, designed for travellers who value more space, thoughtful service, and a more relaxed way to experience the destination.
In 2026, The Astor Goa added a new dimension to its all-suite experience with Villa in the Sky, a four-bedroom penthouse created for families and groups seeking the privacy of a villa together with the convenience and service of a hotel.

The decision
Why every room is a suite
It was a decision made before the first guest arrived, and it constrains everything else. An all-suite property earns less per square metre than a room-count property, because you fit fewer keys into the same footprint. 72 suites sit where a conventional hotel would have put considerably more rooms.
The reasoning is that people stay longer in Goa than they do in most Indian destinations, and a room that works for two nights stops working by the fifth. A separate living space, and in the Astor Suite and above a kitchenette, is what makes a week feel different from a weekend.

The group behind it
Archer Hospitality owns and operates hotels through management, lease and ownership models. Alongside The Astor Goa and The Astor Kolkata, the group’s portfolio includes DoubleTree by Hilton Agra, a 104-room property near the Taj Mahal.
The Kolkata connection shows up in Goa in one concrete way. Kebab-e-Que, the Awadhi kebab kitchen from The Astor Kolkata, is part of the menu at Deck 88 in Candolim, so the kebabs are cooked to a Kolkata recipe rather than a Goan one.
